Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., the makers of the NBA 2K series will pay the National Basketball Association and the National Basketball Players Association a reported $1.1 billion over seven years, according to the Wall Street Journal.

According to 2000 – 2019 Metacritic.com and Gamerankings.com, NBA 2K has sold over 86 million units worldwide over the past 17 years. The licensing deal allows Take-Two to continue producing NBA 2K other NBA-branded games, including smartphone apps. The company and the league announced the partnership on Tuesday.
